The yacht of russian oligarch was sold for $37.5 million
The yacht Axioma (flag — Malta) of Russian oligarch Dmitry Pumpyansky, arrested in Gibraltar, was sold at an auction for $37.5 million and handed over to a new owner.
It will be recalled that since the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February, Pumpyanskyi has been sanctioned by the European Union and Great Britain together with his wife and son, and his accounts have been blocked.
The yacht Axioma was detained in March on the overseas territory of Great Britain. At the request of the JPMorgan bank, the yacht was seized as part of a debt collection lawsuit: the company Pyrene Investments, which manages the ship, owed the American bank €20.5 million.
Now it is known that the arrested yacht was sold at an auction. The vessel became the first of the assets seized from russian businessmen, which were sold after the arrest.
The auction, for which 63 buyers applied, took place on August 23, but it took a whole month to complete the deal. It was finally signed only on September 27.
The identity of the new owner of the 72-meter yacht has not been disclosed. It is only known that the vessel has already been released from arrest.
Axioma yacht was built in 2013 by Dunya Yachts. It has six luxurious guest cabins, a swimming pool, a 3D cinema, a gym, a jacuzzi and a fully equipped spa.
