There will be enough Ukrainian grain for the domestic market
There should be no shortage of grain in Ukraine. It is less than last year, but it will be enough for internal purposes.
“Harvest was first actively started in Odesa region, about 100,000 tons of winter barley were threshed in the region,” First Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Taras Vysotskyi said on the air of the telethon.
According to him, this year the harvest started later because the spring was long and cool.
Also, from July, active harvesting will begin throughout the territory of Ukraine, Mykolaiv Oblast and other southern regions will join the harvest this week.

“It is expected that about 46 million tons of grain will be harvested. This is less than last year. The decrease is approximately 5-7%. It should be remembered that the domestic consumption of cereals is 18 million tons. Collected even 46 million tons, it will still be 2.5 times more than the domestic need. There is no risk of grain shortage for domestic purposes today,” Deputy Minister Taras Vysotskyi said.
At the same time, problems with foreign markets may persist. Since Bulgaria, Romania, Poland, Slovakia and Hungary actively oppose the import of Ukrainian grain. This is explained by the more attractive price of Ukrainian agricultural products.
As the expert explained, this strikes a blow at domestic producers. It is expected that the mentioned countries will not hinder the transit of Ukrainian agricultural products, although certain obstacles are fixed at the Polish border.
