Third voyage in a row: Russian ship with stolen Ukrainian grain heads to Yemen
The Russians are once again transporting stolen Ukrainian wheat from the temporarily occupied areas of the Zaporizhzhia region to the Yemeni Houthis.
This is stated in the investigation of the SeaKrime project.
The bulk carrier Zafar (IMO: 9720263) arrived in the Black Sea on November 29 after transporting stolen Ukrainian wheat to the port of Salif (Yemen).
It is known that from December 5 to 14 the ship was in occupied Sevastopol near berth No. 21 of the grain complex of the stevedoring company “Avlita”. Already on December 22, it was recorded that the bulk carrier was heading to the Bosphorus Strait.
It should be noted that the ship was loaded with stolen grain in the amount of 35,800 tons.
“Zafar is making its third consecutive voyage from occupied Sevastopol to Yemen. Wheat grown in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine is again planned to be delivered to the Yemeni Houthis,” the investigation states.
The journalists also analyzed the quarantine certificates to determine the origin of the grain.
“All of them are issued for the transportation of grain consignments by road from the occupied areas of the Zaporizhzhia region. The senders of the grain are Russian companies or enterprises operating in the occupied territory of Ukraine. The grain is delivered by road to occupied Sevastopol, Primorska, 2 – the address of the stevedoring company “Avlita”. The quarantine certificates were issued in October-November 2024,” the investigation states.
It is also known that the stolen Ukrainian grain is being delivered to the Yemeni port with the assistance of the UN mission.
Let us recall that a similar case occurred in August of this year. Then the bulk carrier Zafar received UN permission to unload at the port of Salif, controlled by the Houthis.
