This year, Ukraine will focus on maritime defense

The Minister of Defense of Ukraine Rustem Umerov summed up the results of the 24th meeting in the Rammstein format and noted that this year Ukraine is placing a special emphasis on “sea defense”.

“Another key result of the meeting with the allies is the signing of the Provisions of the Coalition of Maritime Capabilities (CMC). I am grateful to Great Britain and Norway for their leadership in the Coalition. We expect other partner countries to join,” he wrote on Facebook.

According to him, work within the framework of the CTS will mean long-term support for Ukraine in ensuring security in the Black Sea.

“This year, Ukraine places special emphasis on maritime defense. We have already driven enemy Russian ships off the coast of the Crimean peninsula. Together with our allies, we continue to implement the “Maritime Security Strategy,” the minister emphasized.

In addition, Umerov recalled the key results of today’s meeting of the Contact Group. In particular, the USA announced the allocation of another package of military aid to Ukraine in the amount of 250 million dollars.

Canada will provide a large batch of engines for unguided aerial missiles and 1,300 warheads for them. Also, the new aid package includes thousands of machine guns and pistols, elements of military equipment and fifty ambulances, which will help provide medical needs on the battlefield.

Earlier, USM reported that the Navy of the Armed Forces of Ukraine announced the recruitment of the crew for the “Hetman Ivan Vyhovskyi” corvette.
