Tkachenko became the new captain of the Danube ports


The Shipping Administration and the Sea Ports Authority have introduced a new port master of the Danube region.

Serhii  Tkachenko was appointed as the new captain of the sea ports of Reni, Izmail and Ust-Dunaysk, the head of the Shipping Administration, Yevhenii Ignatenko, announced .

Serhiy Tkachenko is a long-distance sailing captain, previously he was the deputy captain of the Izmail port.

The USPA said that at the meeting with the new captain, they discussed topical issues regarding ensuring the safety of navigation and uniform and transparent working conditions of the port operators of the Danube region in real conditions, namely:

• increasing the intensity of ship calls to Ukrainian seaports on the Danube River in compliance with shipping safety requirements;

• Possibilities of safe navigation in the area of ships, more than 150 meters in length;

• requirements for safe escort and mooring works;

• implementation of the practice of night pilotage of ships;

• determination of the criteria for granting a pilotless navigation permit.

Preparatory measures were also carried out regarding the routing of caravans of marine vessels by the lead method and the need for dredging in the water area of the Izmail port, in connection with the trend of seasonal lowering of the water level in the Danube River.
