“Transbalkterminal” can reach full capacity by the end of the year

The terminal of the Kernel company in the port of Chornomorsk, which was damaged by Russian shelling, is being restored.

Oleksandr Golovin, commercial director for Ukraine of the Kernel company, told about this in an interview with Latifundist.

According to him, the terminal is working today, but not at full capacity. TBT restoration work is underway.

“Hitting the terminal for the company is just a shot in the heart. Nevertheless, we are optimistic. We hope that by the end of the year “Transbalk Terminal” will reach its maximum capacity,” said Oleksandr Golovin.

Golovin also commented on the expansion of Kernel’s fleet. He said that investing in own fleet became a need of time.

“The market could not provide us with the required quantity, cost and systematic planning in the required period of time. In today’s conditions, it still provides additional income. We have our own vision, our plans for further development. The fleet also fits perfectly into these plans,” the commercial director shared.

According to him, the profitability of the fleet is difficult to calculate and forecast, as it depends on a number of factors – both internal and external conditions, opportunities and threats.

“For example, on the Danube during the period of the highest agitation, i.e. during the period of blockade of the big water, the full payback of the newly purchased barges could be achieved literally in a few voyages. Now the situation is completely different – the cost of freight has fallen many times. For us, it is fundamental that the fleet provides us with the independence and comfort of managing logistics,” Oleksandr Golovin emphasized.

As a reminder, in the 2023 fiscal year, Kernel bought two vessels. These are the Eneida bulk carrier with a carrying capacity of 44,000 tons of grain and the Mavka tanker with a carrying capacity of 12,500 tons of sunflower oil.
