Turkey approved the construction of an aircraft carrier and four frigates

A decision to start designing an aircraft carrier was approvedm in Turkey. The country will also build four frigates.

The Turkish government has decided to build an aircraft carrier and four additional frigates, “Militarnyi” reports.

On January 3, a meeting of the Executive Committee of the Defense Industry of Turkey was held, which was attended by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

The committee made a number of important decisions, including the start of designing an aircraft carrier and the construction of four additional Istanbul-class frigates.

Probably, the aircraft carrier can become an enlarged version of the universal landing ship TCG Anadolu. It is planned to place 30-40 of the latest Bayraktar TB3 unmanned aerial vehicles on the ship.

The meeting also discussed the construction of maritime patrol ships, new types of amphibious ships, minesweepers of a new generation, as well as Turkish ships of the Fast Attack Craft (FAC) type.
