Turkey expressed confidence in the continuation of the Grain Initiative
Turkey is sure that Ukraine and russia will continue the “grain agreement”, which expires on March 18.
“Both sides are positive, and we believe that the agreement will be extended,” Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar said, Anadolu reports.
Akar confirmed Turkey’s efforts to ensure the further implementation of the Istanbul Agreement and stated that almost 24 million tons of grain had already been exported under this agreement.
In July of last year, Turkey, the UN, russia and Ukraine signed an agreement in Istanbul on the resumption of grain exports from three Ukrainian Black Sea ports, suspended after the start of russia’s military invasion of Ukraine.
The grain agreement was extended for another 120 days, starting on November 19.
