Turkey has abolished import duties on sunflower seeds

The duty was reduced to zero due to the decline in the world’s sunflower yield and the increase in seed prices.

The duty rate on Turkish sunflower seed imports was temporarily reduced to 0%. This was reported by Doviz with reference to a statement by the Turkish Ministry of Trade.

The ministry noted that the duty was suspended due to the decline in the world’s oilseed yield, the increase in seed prices, and the difficulties experienced by domestic seed processing enterprises.

The report notes that the zero customs quota is valid for January and April, when the domestic harvest is exhausted.

At the same time, the customs duty rate set for the tariff quota for sunflower oil did not change.

Earlier, in August, Turkey set a tariff quota of 8% duty on 1 million tons of oilseed sunflower seeds or 20% duty on 400 thousand tons of crude sunflower oil. The tariff quota was to be in effect from January 1, 2025, to April 30, 2025.

Earlier, USM reported that Turkey had announced the introduction of an additional quota for corn imports.
