Turkey has let a russian-sanctioned ship through the Bosphorus

On the night of March 5, a russian cargo ship, which is under US sanctions, passed through the Bosphorus. It was on its way from Syria to the port of Novorossiysk.

The ship that passed through the strait — Sparta IV — is part of the fleet of the russian company Oboronlogistika, which is engaged, in particular, in the transportation of military cargo.

A photo of a russian ship passing the Bosphorus was published by Yoruk Ishik, who tracks ships in the strait and posts their photos on Twitter.

After the outbreak of full-scale war in Ukraine, Turkey closed its straits to russian warships, but the ban does not extend to support and merchant ships.

In the Mediterranean Sea, the ship was accompanied by the russian corvette Steregushchy. The wreck of the Sparta IV indicated a heavy load, writes Naval News.

The publication assumes that the ship was transporting military equipment from Syria, but there is currently no confirmation. But it is known that a naval base is located in the Syrian port of Tartus.

Sparta I, II, III and IV are ships of the fleet of the russian company Oboronlogistika, which is engaged, in particular, in the transportation of military cargo. One of these vessels could have transported drones from Iran to russia , which the terrorist country is currently using to attack Ukraine.
