Turkey increases oil imports from the russian federation

Turkey significantly increased its oil imports from russia against the backdrop of restrictions on the purchase of russian raw materials by Western countries.

In seven months, Turkey’s purchase of raw oil from russian federation increased to 5.6 million tons — 2.4 times, compared to the same period last year.

The increase in imports from russia allowed Turkish refineries to increase the volume of production of aviation kerosene and marine fuel. In particular, during January-July, Turkey produced about 2.8 million tons of aviation gas, which is 57% more than in the same period last year. The production of marine fuel increased by 2.4 times to 1.25 million tons, and the total production of oil products in January-July in the country increased by 14.7% to 22.36 million tons, reports TTS with reference to Vedomosti.

According to russian federation, Turkey could earn up to 2.5 billion dollars in seven months from the export of oil products. The USA, Great Britain and Germany became the main consumers of Turkish oil products.
