Turkey insists on extending the Grain Agreement by 120 days
Turkey will conduct negotiations on the extension of the “Black Sea Grain Initiative” for 120 days, and not for 60 days, as russia wants.
“We started negotiations according to the initial version of the agreement. Continuation of the agreement is important. We will extend our contacts (regarding its extension) for 120 days instead of two months,” Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar said, Reuters writes.
According to him, the parties to the agreement will evaluate and decide on its further extension. Ankara hopes for a positive result.
Negotiations between representatives of the UN and russia regarding the continuation of the “grain agreement” began on March 13 in Geneva. At the same time, russia agreed to extend the grain agreement for only 60 days.
Ukraine started online negotiations with partners regarding the extension of the “grain agreement” on March 7. The agreement expires on March 18.
As USM previously reported, the hype surrounding the talks has already led to a drop in wheat and corn prices .
