Turkey ranks first among importers of Russian grain
According to the results of the first half of the 2023/2024 fiscal year, Turkey remains the main grain importer from the Russian Federation.
In July-December 2023, Turkey purchased 4.281 million tons of grain from Russia, writes APC-Inform.
“Iran took second place, displacing Egypt from this position. It purchased 3.902 million tons of grain, which is 4.9% more than last year (3.718 million tons). This increase was ensured by increased purchases of fodder grain,” the report says.
In third place is Egypt, which imported 2.956 million tons of grain from the Russian Federation in the first half of the season, which is almost a quarter less than last year (3.923 million tons).
The top five buyers also included Saudi Arabia, which increased purchases by 10.2% to 2.009 million tons from 1.823 million tons in the first half of last season, and Bangladesh, which sent 1.966 million tons, which is almost 2.5 times more than a year ago (793 thousand tons).
