Turkey stresses security of Black Sea grain corridor

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan will emphasize the “strategic priority” of maintaining security in the Black Sea at a summit dedicated to Ukraine.
This is reported by Reuters with reference to a representative of the Turkish Foreign Ministry. The summit is scheduled to take place today, January 6, in Paris.
Recall that French President Emmanuel Macron has convened a meeting of the “Coalition of the Willing” for Tuesday. This group, led by Great Britain and France, includes more than 30 countries.
According to a Reuters source, Fidan is to make a statement that Turkey considers maintaining security in the Black Sea a strategic priority and that it reminds all parties of its position on this issue.
Ankara recently warned both sides about the recent escalation in the Black Sea, as a result of which Russian and Turkish ships were hit by drones and Ukrainian ports were damaged. Turkey has also witnessed a series of drones entering its airspace in recent weeks, with one of them shot down near its capital.
Overall, talks at the Paris summit on January 6 will focus on the articles of the US draft plan to end the war, as well as security guarantees for Ukraine and the potential role the Coalition could play.
USM previously reported that Turkey was obliged to inspect tankers attacked by drones off its coast.
