Turkey took the second place in the sea import of Rosneft
In May 2024, Turkey imported 2.5 million tons of crude oil: from the Russian ports of the Baltic (2.1 million tons) and Black (0.4 million tons) seas.
“Turkey has also become the absolute world champion in the maritime import of Russian oil products,” Andriy Klymenko, the head of the Monitoring Group of the Institute of Black Sea Strategic Studies, said.
In May, 19 out of 100 crude oil tankers arrived in Turkey from the Baltic and four out of 29 tankers from the Black Sea.
In currency, we are talking about 1.4 billion US dollars (per month).
In particular, during the same period, Turkey imported 2.3 million tons of oil products from the Russian ports of the Baltic (0.7 million tons) and Black (1.6 million tons) seas.
This is 37.7% of the total volume of exports of oil products of the Russian Federation from the ports of these two seas. The number of tankers with Russian oil products received by Turkish ports is 83 from the Black Sea and 16 from the Baltic. Of these 99 tankers, 35 are Russian.
As previously reported by USM, at the same time, Turkey is promoting the idea of reviving the work of the Black Sea Grain Initiative.
