Turkish shipowner appeals to ISS over attack on ship near Novorossiysk

The Turkish company T&O Denizcilik and the family of the deceased sailor have appealed to the International Criminal Court over the July attack on the cargo ship MV Reyhan Sari near Novorossiysk.

According to the publication, on July 21, a drone hit the vessel under the Turkish flag. One of the sailors, who worked in the engine room, died, and several other crew members were injured.

The MV Reyhan Sari was transporting coal from Russia to Trabzon, Turkey. According to MarineTraffic, the ship’s communication systems were also damaged as a result of the strike.

Representatives of T&O Denizcilik consider the attack a potential war crime and ask the ICC to consider the circumstances of the incident. The company’s lawyer claims that the court’s prosecutor’s office is already conducting a preliminary assessment of the received materials and requesting information from the Ukrainian and Turkish sides.

It should be noted that Ukraine has not officially confirmed its involvement in the attack on the MV Reyhan Sari.
