Tusk: Poland is checking whether a Russian ship planted explosives in the Baltic Sea

Poland continues to investigate after recent “suspicious actions” by a Russian vessel in the Baltic Sea.
This was stated on Thursday, May 22, by the head of the Polish government, Donald Tusk, writes Polskie Radio.
According to him, Poland is still investigating whether the explosives were planted by a vessel of the Russian “shadow fleet”, which the day before committed “suspicious actions” near the power cable between Poland and Sweden.
“Obviously, this needs to be checked very carefully,” Tusk stressed.
He added that so far “there are no bad signals” in this regard.
The head of the Polish government also stressed that incidents involving Russian saboteurs may occur more often in the future. In return, Poland plans significant investments in this region, in particular in offshore wind farms or gas pipelines.
According to him, NATO’s Baltic Sentry initiative is “something necessary” in the region.
“Let’s not kid ourselves: the Baltic Sea could become a place, like Poland’s eastern border today, of permanent hybrid confrontation. This is a direct aggression against our security, not only energy security,” Tusk stressed.
