UAH 62.4 million will be allocated for the repair of the Khadzhibey dam

In Odesa, they plan to carry out major repairs of the Khadzhibey estuary dam. Among the priority measures is the stabilization of the damaged areas of the dam. They plan to spend UAH 62.4 million on repairs. The corresponding tender is  placed on the Prozorro state procurement website.

We will remind you that the Odesa City Council has already concluded a contract for the repair of the building at the end of 2021. At that time, they were ready to spend 27 million hryvnias on the works, but in November 2022, the contract was terminated. Now the cost of major repairs of the damaged areas of the dam has doubled, Suspilne reports.

The Khadzhibe dam is located on the outskirts of the Suvorovsky district of Odesa. In fact, the dam is currently neither on the balance sheet of the city nor on the balance sheet of the region. Despite this, the local budget was indicated as the source of funding in the tender. Currently, the district court is considering a lawsuit by the Suvorov prosecutor’s office about taking the dam on the city’s balance sheet. The next meeting is scheduled for April 25.

The dam was built as an emergency in the 1940s. The dam was created without any project and in terms of reliability does not meet the required capital class. In the event of a dam breach, more than 50 enterprises, a railway branch, and the Odesa HPP will fall into the flood zone.
