UDS has completed overhaul of the tug “Oleshky”
The Ukrainian Danube Shipping Company has completely completed the overhaul of the pusher tug “Oleshky” (formerly “Chelyabinsk”).
The tugboat spent almost two years in the backwater of the BTOF (“Fleet Maintenance Base”) waiting for the dock, the UDS reported.
During the work on the tug, the following were performed:
• repair of main and auxiliary engines and mechanisms, pumps;
• complete repair of the propeller complex with its disassembly and assembly;
• repair of the anchor device, defects and repair of the hull with the replacement of almost 12 tons of metal;
• repair of fuel tanks, fecal tank and adjustment of the sewage system;
• hull cleaning and painting of its underwater and surface parts, decks and superstructure, engine room and engines.
Specialists also painted the ship’s hull with modern two-component paint, as well as drinking tanks. Renovation work was carried out: the floor was replaced and linoleum laid in four cabins (they are also planning to install kitchen furniture).
In addition, most of the cabin heating system was replaced on the tug, and four new air conditioners will be installed in place of the old ones after returning to the BTOF.
The tug has already passed all seagoing and mooring tests under the supervision of the Shipping Register of Ukraine and is waiting for class documents for the next five years already with a new name – “Oleshky”.
USM previously reported that the construction of a new barge from UDS is being delayed. The pace of construction of the ship is restrained by the limited capacity of the slip, which has long been in need of modernization.
