UDS installs new engines on its vessels at an Austrian shipyard


In 2024, “Ukrainian Danube Shipping” plans to modernize the first five vessels at the Austrian shipyard ÖSWAG.

In Linz, Austria, UDS together with ÖSWAG inspected the works on the modernization of the ship “Captain Antipov”.

“Austrian partners noted the very high-quality preparation of the vessel, carried out in Ukraine by UDS specialists. The engine hull is in almost perfect condition. Fully restored propeller-rudder complex. Captain Antipov” arrived in Linz on his own. The Ukrainian team accompanying the project is currently dismantling the old engines and the 45-ton superstructure of the vessel,” said Dmytro Moskalenko, head of the UDS.

The next stage will be carried out by Austrian specialists: the dismantled superstructure will be removed with a crane, and the old equipment will be replaced with new ones.

According to Moskalenko, UDS and ÖSWAG management have also discussed the delivery of the next four ships to the shipyard, but this will take place after the work on the first vessel is completed.

Earlier, USM reported that UDS was negotiating with Austrian Rhenus on joint transportation.
