UDS introduced new norms of fuel consumption for port tugs
PJSC “Ukrainian Danube Shipping” reduced the fuel consumption rate for port tugs.
Ship trials lasted more than a month. Fuel consumption was measured instrumentally and online using the fuel consumption and vessel location accounting system.
In particular, in the course of the tests, it was found that the cost rate for the upward movement exceeds the actual indicators by 53%. That is, instead of 123 liters per hour, the tug consumes only 80. The norm for maneuvers exceeds the actual indicators by 45%, the norm for parking – by 158%.
Thanks to the system of accounting for fuel consumption and the location of vessels, the UDS will be able to save millions of hryvnias every month.
Fuel consumption norms are necessary for the UDS despite the fact that flow meters have appeared on ships. Firstly, not all vessels are currently equipped with flowmeters. Secondly, in case of damage or warranty case of the system, the fleet should be guided exactly by the established fuel write-off norms.
Previously, USM reported that the UDS Security Department discovered and blocked yet another corruption scheme through which fuel thefts were organized for a long time.
Even under the old leadership of the UDS, the organizers of the scheme had unjustifiably inflated fuel consumption norms for port operations. A certain excess of fuel began to accumulate on the tugboats. The captains used the “saved” fuel for “left” operations without entering it into the ship’s logbook. Hundreds of such operations were found in just one of the Danube ports.
The “proceeds” were distributed between the organizers and the captains, agents, dispatchers and other employees involved in the scheme. Part of the fuel was simply drained, taken away and sold, the UDS notes.
