UDS modernizes tugboats “three thousand”
PJSC “Ukrainian Danube Shipping Company” plans to modernize tugboats “three thousandths”.
The company has eight such pusher tugs. Of them, 5 have been lying idle for at least 15 years, and 3 more are currently waiting for dock repairs. These are the only pusher tugs with three engines in the UDS, said Dmytro Moskalenko, head of the UDS.
The engines of the three UDS tugboats awaiting repair are worn out and do not produce the predicted power of 3,000 hp, and it is very difficult to find spare parts for them. Five other tugboats are completely decommissioned.
Modernization will affect all systems of the ship. The repair concept assumes that only the hull, hull lines and propeller steering group will remain from the old vessel.
