UDS spoke about plans for its old fleet
“Ukrainian Danube Shipping” plans to dispose of more than 60 units of vessels that are no longer in use – the so-called “cemetery of ships”.
It is noted that the watercraft cannot be restored due to their obsolescence and unusable condition. In addition, they interfere with shipping, and the company pays a million UAH in anchor fees for them every year, said the head of the UDS Dmytro Moskalenko.
In the specified “cemetery of ships” there are three Ishmail-type dry cargo vessels, four “Meteor” and “Voskhod” type hydrofoil passenger ships, ship lifts, river barges, floating crane, etc.
“We sell sea vessels at auction. We either cut everything else into scrap metal ourselves (for this we need to get a license), or we sell it to companies that specialize in this type of activity,” said Moskalenko.
