UGA: harvest volumes for 2024 will decrease
The export of agricultural products in the new season of 2024/2025 may amount to about 43.7 million tons.
The Ukrainian Grain Association (UGA) estimates this year’s potential harvest at 76.1 million tons. This is stated in the report of the organization.
For comparison, the harvest of 2023, according to UGA, amounted to 82.6 million tons of grain and oil crops.
The reason for the potential decrease in the harvest in the new season may be a reduction in the sown area due to unfavorable price conditions on the world market and expensive export logistics.
Under such conditions, exports in the new season of 2024/2025 may amount to about 43.7 million tons. For comparison, in the current season, exports will amount to approximately 53.1 million tons — under the conditions of uninterrupted operation of the Ukrainian maritime corridor and the Danube route.
In terms of crops, this year’s harvest may consist of:
• wheat — 20 million tons (export — 13 million tons);
• barley — 4.6 million tons (2 million tons);
• corn — 26.3 million tons (20.5 million tons);
• sunflower — 13.7 million tons (250 thousand tons);
• rapeseed — 4.2 million tons (3.6 million tons — at the level of the current season);
• soybeans — 5.5 million tons (4 million tons).
As USM recently wrote, China refused 4-5 cargoes of Ukrainian grain.
