UK to ban maritime services for Russian LNG exports

The UK plans to ban companies from providing services such as transporting and insuring Russian LNG exports.
The ban will be phased in over 2026, Reuters reports.
On Tuesday, November 11, the UK government said it wanted to go further, cutting off Russia’s access to companies that provide LNG export services.
“The ban will be phased in over 2026 in cooperation with our European partners,” the UK Foreign Office said in a statement ahead of a meeting of G7 foreign ministers.
As a reminder, in October the European Union approved new sanctions against Russia, banning imports of Russian LNG from January 1, 2027. The UK and the US also imposed sanctions on Russian oil companies Lukoil and Rosneft.
