Ukraine almost lost Medvedchuk’s yacht due to inaction of the Prosecutor General’s Office, — People’s Deputy

The Prosecutor General’s Office tried to sabotage the arrest of Viktor Medvedchuk’s Royal Romance yacht.

This was reported by People’s Deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak.

According to him, in 2024 there was a great risk of lifting the arrest of Viktor Medvedchuk’s “Royal Romance” yacht, which is currently in Croatia. This did not happen, but solely due to public pressure and sanctions from the European Union.

Thus, last year it became known that Croatia may cancel the arrest of the vessel, since it did not receive a single court decision or request from law enforcement officers from Ukraine. They were supposed to be provided by the Prosecutor General’s Office. After public publicity, the Prosecutor General’s Office issued a statement, saying that the yacht would not go anywhere.

In Croatia, they took into account the fact that the traitor Medvedchuk is under EU sanctions – this alone helped to leave the yacht behind Ukraine. If the Croatian court had decided otherwise, the yacht could have left the port.

Zheleznyak said that after that, as the head of the Temporary Investigative Commission of the Verkhovna Rada, he sent a request to the Agency for Tracing and Asset Management regarding the yacht.

ARMA replied that they had repeatedly asked the Prosecutor General’s Office to send a request for international legal assistance to Croatia, which is requesting the lifting of the arrest of the vessel.

In turn, the Prosecutor General’s Office in its responses distanced itself from the question of an international request to Croatia, although in the letter to Zheleznyak, ARMA notes that this is precisely the authority of the Prosecutor General. For unknown reasons, the Office referred to the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office and constantly refused ARMA or did not respond to their requests at all.

Only in November 2024, after the dismissal of Prosecutor General Andriy Kostin, the Office sent a request for international legal assistance to Croatia.

Despite this, ARMA sent a request to NABU regarding the possible commission of a criminal offense by employees of the Prosecutor General’s Office.

In the letter, ARMA notes that the objective side of the criminal offenses indicated by the agency may consist of “both actions and inaction.”

“The inaction of employees of the Prosecutor General’s Office, including the Prosecutor General, described in this message, which consists in the lack of measures taken within the framework of international legal assistance in criminal proceedings regarding the seizure by the court of the Republic of Croatia of the “Royal Romance” vessel, may result in the State Budget of Ukraine not receiving funds in the amount of about 117 million euros from the sale of the “Royal Romance” vessel and contain signs of criminal offenses,” the ARMA appeal states.

Earlier, USM reported that Medvedchuk’s yacht will be sent for maintenance to a Croatian port.
