Ukraine and Lithuania discussed cooperation in the restoration and development of seaports

The Ministry of Development of Ukraine held a meeting with a delegation from the Lithuanian port of Klaipeda, during which they discussed the current needs of the port infrastructure.

This was reported by the press service of the ministry.

The purpose of the meeting was to assess the current needs and priorities for the restoration of Ukrainian ports. The delegation members identified areas in which the Lithuanian side can participate, in particular by providing technical expertise, operational experience, investments and support for the development of the capabilities of the maritime industry of Ukraine.

The main challenges and needs of the industry were also discussed, including the issue of demining the water areas of ports and approach channels, repair and modernization of the dredging fleet, the purchase of specialized vessels for the elimination of pollution, pilotage and search and rescue vessels, as well as strengthening the protection of critical infrastructure facilities.

“The Lithuanian side confirmed its readiness to strengthen cooperation, support investment projects and the development of strategic logistics routes,” the ministry stressed.

The parties also supported the upcoming Memorandum of Cooperation between the Odesa Sea Port and Klaipeda Port Administrations to exchange experience and implement modern environmental solutions.

As previously reported by USM, in February 2026, Lithuania, Sweden and Canada launched a fund for the restoration of Ukraine’s ports and transport infrastructure.
