Ukraine and the Philippines are considering joint production of naval drones

Ukraine may sign a memorandum of understanding with the Philippines in the defense sector as early as October.

A Ukrainian delegation, which will include representatives of the Ministry of Defense, plans to visit Manila for talks with Philippine colleagues. This was stated by the Ambassador of Ukraine to the Philippines Yulia Fediv, writes Naval News.

Among the topics of discussion are joint production of drones, training programs and exchange of technologies. The first non-permanent attaché of Ukraine for defense issues in the Philippines, Colonel Andriy Bilenky, has already held meetings with the Air Force, Army and Navy of the country.

The draft agreement has already been submitted to the Ministry of National Defense of the Philippines and is awaiting feedback.

Ukraine has increased the production of drones after the start of a full-scale war with Russia. In particular, naval drones have proven their effectiveness in the Black Sea, where they were able to inflict significant losses on the Russian Black Sea Fleet. Analysts believe that such platforms can become an important tool for the Philippines in countering China’s military superiority in the region.

Also, on the eve, Ukraine discussed cooperation in the production of maritime drones with New Zealand.
