Ukraine and Turkey extended the validity of the transport visa

The liberalization of transport with Turkey will continue at least until the end of the war.

Ukraine and Turkey extended the “transport visa-free” period, which includes two-way cargo transportation in transit. This was reported to the Ministry of Reconstruction.

Arrangements include unauthorized entry for empty trucks. Such a decision was made by representatives of the Ministry of Reconstruction of Ukraine and the Ministry of Infrastructure of Turkey at a meeting of the Joint Committee on Transportation.

“I am grateful to my Turkish colleagues for constructive cooperation for the development of the economies of both countries. Continuation of the liberalization of freight transportation is an example of decision-making based on numbers and real indicators regarding the positive impact on the two-way transportation market,” commented Minister of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development Oleksandr Kubrakov.

The minister emphasized that about 15% of all Ukrainian exports to Turkey are carried out by road transport. Turkish companies import almost 60% of the total volume of goods to Ukraine by road transport.

In addition, it was possible to increase the number of permits for cargo transportation to / from third countries to 3,500 units.

Currently, “transport visa-free” is available to 35 countries, including EU countries. Only last year, Ukraine agreed on the liberalization of transportation with Norway, North Macedonia and extended the agreement with Moldova.

USM recently wrote that the Ministry of Reconstruction plans to extend “transport visa-free” with the EU for another year. Currently, the agreement is valid until June 30, 2024.
