Ukraine can ban the import of agricultural products from Poland
Ukraine is considering the possibility of banning the import of agricultural products from Poland in response to the blockade of the border by Polish farmers.
Thus, the Ukrainian authorities may ban the import of Polish dairy products and fruits, Forbes reports.
Decisions on banning imports may be made within the next two weeks.
“We would like to avoid this, but we are now at the lowest point, and if it continues like this, then it will have to be done,” – the interlocutor in the Ukrainian government told the publication.
Minister of Agricultural Policy Mykola Solskyi confirmed such ideas. “We are in favor of a constructive approach, but of course we will be ready to react,” he commented.
“We’ll see what happens,” Solskyi added. He did not give any other details and called the ban on Polish imports a “sensitive topic”.
“We will conduct active negotiations with the Polish side, and based on their effectiveness, we will make a decision,” the minister summarized.
As previously reported by USM, on February 20, Polish farmers plan to block all checkpoints on the border with Ukraine, as well as the entrances to railways and seaports.
