Ukraine can increase the level of EU supply of agricultural crops to almost 100%, — Ministry of Agriculture

Ukraine can provide the European Union with scarce agricultural crops by almost 100%.

This was stated by the First Deputy Minister of Agricultural Policy Taras Vysotsky, Ukrainian Radio reports.

He noted that the EU has import-dependent areas, in particular – the protein group (soybeans, other leguminous products), partly grain (primarily corn), as well as sugar and livestock products.

“Ukraine can raise the level of providing the European Union with almost 100% of the crops that we grow. This is a differentiation of risks – geopolitical, trade and others, when you are sure that everything necessary to provide basic food for more than half a billion people is within your political, economic and security union,” Vysotsky said.

He also noted that products produced in surplus can be exported jointly with the EU. Vysotsky noted that currently 86% of products are exported by sea, so if there is a demand for these products in the Middle East or North Africa, then they can be sent there.

This can also be positioned as European exports and a joint fight against hunger in Africa, which will help Ukraine increase the EU’s influence on food security in other regions.

Earlier, USM reported that Ukraine is ready to expand supplies of agricultural products to Poland.
