Ukraine confiscated assets of the Russian Shipping Register


The High Anti-Corruption Court of Ukraine partially satisfied the Ministry of Justice’s claim to seize the assets of a Russian shipping agency in favor of the state.

The High Anti-Corruption Court of Ukraine partially satisfied the Ministry of Justice’s claim and ruled to confiscate the assets of the Federal Autonomous Institution “Russian Maritime Register of Shipping”.

The Federal Autonomous Institution “Russian Maritime Register of Shipping” is the leading Russian society in the field of shipping. The organization classifies seagoing vessels, conducts technical surveillance of them, and issues the necessary documents, certificates, and acts, including for vessels of the Russian Navy. This institution also certifies floating structures, ship mechanisms, equipment, and devices.

In addition, the register has been actively involved in the implementation of all Russian oil and gas projects.

According to the decision of the High Anti-Corruption Court of Ukraine, stipulated by paragraph 11 of part one of Article 4 of the Law of Ukraine “On Sanctions”, the following assets were seized as state revenue:

• 100% of the total number of shares of PrJSC “Maritime Register of Shipping” and PrJSC “Maritime Register of Shipping in Ukraine”;

• 100% of the share in the authorized capital of LLC “Maritime Bureau of the Register”;

• the right of creditor claims in the amount of over UAH 12 million;

• cash in the amount of over UAH 27 million;

• securities (domestic government loan bonds) with a nominal value of over UAH 146 million;

• 8 real estate objects;

• 8 passenger cars.
