Ukraine counts on cooperation with Norway in protecting the Black Sea, — Zelenskyy

Norway can play a key role in strengthening air defense and protecting Ukraine’s coastline.

During a joint press conference with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre, Volodymyr Zelenskyy stressed that Kyiv is counting on continued cooperation with Oslo in the security sector. Ukrinform writes about this.

“There are many aspects where Norway helps us. I would highlight three main ones where we expect active participation – these are air defense systems, training to work with them, joint production, and the coastline. We believe that Norway has extensive experience in protecting the coastline and the sea,” Zelenskyy said.

He also emphasized that an important part of security guarantees is strengthening the Ukrainian army. According to him, Norway is among the leaders in providing assistance, providing funding, weapons, and also assisting in the production of drones.

Separately, Zelenskyy stressed that security guarantees should include mechanisms to deter Russia.

“The question is Russia’s political will to end the war. And the political will and power of the United States to put pressure on Russia if it does not take steps in the right direction,” the President added.

Also, the day before, the Commander of the Ukrainian Navy, Oleksiy Neizhpapa, and the Minister of Defense of Sweden, Paul Jonsson, agreed to strengthen the Ukrainian fleet.
