Ukraine expects the next EU sanctions package to target Russia’s shadow fleet

Volodymyr Zelenskyy stressed that the 16th EU sanctions package should apply to Russian oil and the entire shadow fleet, as well as captains and crew members of ships.
The President of Ukraine announced this during a meeting with Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference.
It is noted that the main topics of the meeting were defense assistance and countering the Russian shadow fleet.
Zelenskyy noted Denmark’s leadership in the fight against the Russian shadow tanker fleet and emphasized that it is important to further strengthen these sanctions. Ukraine expects that the 16th EU sanctions package will apply to Russian oil and the entire shadow fleet, as well as captains and crew members of ships.
Separately, Zelenskyy noted that a year ago, Ukraine and Denmark launched a joint initiative on direct investment in Ukrainian defense production. Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanked Mette Frederiksen for her loyal support of Ukraine and Ukrainians and presented her with a miniature of the Neptune cruise missile.
