Ukraine foils attempted hijacking of seized Russian ship Emmakris III

ARMA reported that together with the Shipping Administration, they foiled an attempt to hijack the arrested Russian ship Emmakris III.

This was reported by the Agency for the Search and Management of Arrested Assets.

“ARMA immediately reacted to an attempt to illegally remove the arrested ship Emmakris III, which is under the management of the private enterprise Marinex, from Ukraine.

Thanks to coordinated actions with the Shipping Administration, it was possible to prevent the actual hijacking of the ship and its possible return to the aggressor country,” the report says.

The agency has already appealed to all law enforcement agencies. The situation is under control.

“Previously, numerous violations were established by the manager, which relate to: failure to fulfill the terms of the contract, failure to fulfill obligations to replenish the state budget and self-removal from fulfilling duties in terms of preserving the asset,” the agency noted.

The agency said that after the issued order, the manager ignored the requirements and attempted to illegally remove the vessel, which contradicts the court decision. Thanks to the intervention of ARMA, the vessel remained in the port of Ukraine.

“The situation was critical: the crew abandoned the vessel, thereby confirming their criminal intentions. Measures were taken to prevent any emergency situations on the vessel. The manager will be held liable for violating the terms of the contract,” ARMA reported.

In particular, the Agency has already appealed to the competent authorities regarding the change of management method to implementation.
