Ukraine has begun preparations for the 2024-2025 ice campaign
Ukraine has begun active preparations for the 2024-2025 ice campaign.
With the participation of the Council of Seaport Captains, the leadership of the USPA and the State Hydrographic Service, a meeting was held to ensure the safety of navigation in the winter period, said the head of the Shipping Administration Yevgenii Ignatenko.
As part of preparations for the 2024-2025 ice campaign, the Shipping Administration agreed on a Plan of organizational and technical measures aimed at ensuring the safety of navigation. The implementation of this plan is currently underway with the participation of all stakeholders.
During the meeting, the readiness of vessels and employees was confirmed, who, if necessary, will be involved in work for the safe escort of vessels in ice conditions. Seaport captains have created headquarters to coordinate ice operations, and will also monitor compliance by vessels with safety requirements.
Ice coordinators will receive operational information about navigation equipment, forecasted and actual weather conditions, as well as other important safety data. The Shipping Administration will receive daily information from the USPA on the condition of sea and river transport facilities in Ukraine during the winter period.
