Ukraine increased grain exports by 16% in 2023
Last year, Ukraine exported 44.8 million tons of grain, which was 16% more than in 2022.
Revenue from grain exports last year amounted to 8.3 billion dollars. USA, which is 9% less than in 2022. Such data was shared by the deputy director of the National Research Center “Institute of Agrarian Economy”, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences Mykola Pugachev.
The key theses look like this:
• 26.4 million tons of corn were exported – almost 6% more than in 2022.
• The volume of wheat exports amounted to 16.2 million tons. This is 44% more than a year before.
• Sales of barley to foreign markets in 2023 increased by 1% and amounted to 2.2 million tons.
• Representatives of the European Union, Asia and Africa traditionally became the largest buyers of Ukrainian grain last year. At the same time, last year’s exports were again carried out mainly to EU countries.
• In 2023, Spain topped the ranking of the largest importers of Ukrainian grain with a share of 17.1% of the export value of this product group.
• China was again second in the ranking last year with a share of 13.9%.
• Romania, which in 2022 was the first in the ranking of the largest importers of Ukrainian grain, secured the third place in 2023 with a share of 12.5%.
• Together, these 3 states – the leaders of the rating of the main importers formed about 44% of the value volume of all purchases of grain products in Ukraine.
