Ukraine is interested in developing additional routes within the TEN-T corridor

Representatives of five European countries discussed the development of the Baltic Sea – Black Sea – Aegean Sea transport corridor.

In particular, they focused on the sections that should connect the Greek port of Alexandroupolis with the Ukrainian Odesa, via Varna and Constanta, the Ministry for Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine reports.

Representatives of the ministries responsible for transport policy and infrastructure in Ukraine, Greece, Romania, Bulgaria, Moldova, as well as representatives of the European Commission took part in the online meeting.

First Deputy Minister for Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine  Alyona Shkrum said that Ukraine considers the development of new transport and logistics routes as a key factor in economic stability and integration into the European space.

“We are interested in the development of additional and alternative routes that will make our international logistics less vulnerable in times of war,” Alyona Shkrum noted.

Separately, Ukrainian representatives noted the importance of developing the infrastructure of the Danube region and its full inclusion in the TEN-T network. They emphasized that this would create a sustainable alternative to sea and land routes, increase the capacity of Danube ports, and integrate the transport system of Ukraine and Moldova into the European infrastructure.

Representatives of the European Commission confirmed the strategic importance of the region in the context of expanding the corridor and emphasized their readiness to consider the possibilities of providing financing for the development of critical infrastructure.

In particular, the participants agreed to continue coordinating efforts to develop the corridor, including the Alexandroupolis-Odesa section.

As previously reported by USM, in early 2025 it became known that the Ukrainian part of the Danube would be integrated into the European transport network TEN-T. And in June, Greece proposed creating a corridor between the ports of Odesa and Alexandroupolis.
