Ukraine is looking for partners to protect ports, — Kashuba

The government is discussing with international companies the prospects for modernizing coastal monitoring and shipping safety systems.
Deputy Minister for Development Andriy Kashuba met with representatives of the international consulting company Rasmussen Global and the Danish defense manufacturer Terma A/S. The key topic of the talks was the issues of Ukraine’s maritime security and the protection of port infrastructure, according to the website of the Ministry for Development.
The meeting participants discussed the potential of implementing modern monitoring technologies – in particular, radar systems and solutions for detecting threats on the coast. Terma A/S presented its developments in the field of coastal surveillance, which have already proven their effectiveness in NATO member countries.
“Today, when Ukraine faces threats from the sea every day, we need reliable technological solutions to protect ports, the coast and shipping routes. The security of the maritime space is not only a defense issue, but also the foundation of economic stability, the functioning of logistics, international trade and energy security,” Andriy Kashuba emphasized.
During the meeting, he also presented the Maritime Sector Recovery Plan, developed in cooperation with Estonian partners. The document sets out priorities for rebuilding port infrastructure, modernizing the fleet, and maintaining shipping safety in the post-war development context. As USM reported, Denmark and Ukraine have previously discussed cooperation in port development.
