Ukraine is working on the maritime export of Mining and metallurgical complex cargo

In September, the first ships with metal went through the temporary sea corridor, and in November, the overall increase in sea exports was recorded by 70%.

The most important thing that the government can do now for Ukrainian metallurgy is to ensure unhindered export by sea, said First Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Economy of Ukraine Yulia Svyridenko.

Svyridenko visited industrial enterprises of the Dnipropetrovsk region to get acquainted with production, investment plans and check the effectiveness of state programs to stimulate the economy.

“Metallurgy has always been a fundamental branch of the Ukrainian economy. Before the invasion, Mining and metallurgical complex generated approximately 10% of GDP and brought in about a third of foreign exchange earnings from all commodity exports. This industry has always been and remains export-oriented. More than 80% of metal products were supplied abroad. The most important thing that the government can do now for Ukrainian metallurgy is to ensure unhindered export by sea,” Yuliya Svyridenko stressed.

According to Svyridenko, there is already an important achievement in this direction: in September, the first ships with metal left through the temporary sea corridor, in November, the overall increase in exports by sea was recorded by 70%.

“Metal export is starting to work. This means that metallurgists and miners will have work, and the Ukrainian budget will receive additional taxes. Currently, we are working on the complete unblocking of maritime logistics and the launch of the ship insurance mechanism, which has already been developed,” the minister summarized.
