Ukraine may expand the list of countries for grain aid within the framework of Grain From Ukraine
So far, Ukraine has sent over 280 thousand tons of food to vulnerable countries thanks to the humanitarian initiative.
This was reported by the Minister of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine Vitaliy Koval in an interview with the Daily Sun newspaper.
According to him, within the framework of the Grain from Ukraine humanitarian initiative, over 280 thousand tons of agricultural products have been sent to 12 countries in Africa and Asia. In particular, wheat and wheat flour, corn, peas and oil.
Ukraine is also considering the possibility of expanding the list of countries to which food will be delivered – countries in Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as countries in the Middle East and Africa.
The minister emphasized that the UN WFP has already been informed about this need.
“The idea of the Grain From Ukraine initiative is simple, but extremely powerful. It is a symbol of Ukraine’s solidarity with the world. Food is not a weapon. It is a means of helping others. We provide grain to countries that need it most, to those who are facing the threat of hunger,” Vitaliy Koval noted.
As previously reported by USM, the participating countries of the Third International Summit on Food Security will allocate $44 million for the Grain from Ukraine humanitarian program.
