Neptune” anti-ship missiles are being modified in Ukraine. It is about creating a long-range version of missiles.

Deputy Minister of Defense Ivan Gavryliuk told about the creation of new “Neptune” missiles in an interview with “ArmiyaInform”.

“Work is currently underway to create the so-called long “Neptune”.” This is a new modification of the missile for the “Neptune” complex. We are also actively working together with the Ministry of Strategic Industries to strengthen the air defense system,” Gavrilyuk commented.

He added that they cannot provide more detailed information at the moment.

R-360 “Neptun” is a Ukrainian anti-ship cruise missile adopted by the Armed Forces of Ukraine in 2020. The range of the missile is up to 280 km.

“Neptune” is designed to destroy ships with a displacement of up to 5,000 tons.

For the first time, the missile was used in combat conditions in 2022, during the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine. On April 14 of that year, two “Neptune” missiles hit the missile cruiser “Moskva”, the flagship of the Russian Black Sea Fleet. As a result of the attack, the enemy ship sank.

Also, according to one version, this year in August, “Neptune” was used for the first time to strike a ground target. We are talking about the destruction of the S-400 complex on the Tarkhankut peninsula in the occupied Crimea.
