Ukraine needs to release 70,000 square kilometres in the Black Sea

For the normal functioning of ports, Ukraine needs the release of 70,000 km of the general economic zone.

Now the gray zone, where russian ships do not enter, fearing destruction, is 25 square meters. km — the area of Odesa and Kharkiv regions combined. Ukraine’s general economic zone in the Black Sea, which needs to be liberated, is more than 70,000 square kilometers, so there is still a lot of work to do, said the Commander of the Navy of Ukraine, Vice Admiral Oleksiy Neizhpapa.

“When in the first days of the large-scale invasion we saw them (russian ships – ed.) with the naked eye near Odesa, now they no longer approach the coasts controlled by us,” the commander noted.

Only because the Ukrainian military was able to push enemy ships to a distance of 100-150 nautical miles from the coast of Odesa, the enemy was forced to agree to actions regarding the Grain Corridor in the Black Sea, Neizhpapa is convinced.

According to the grain agreement, the Navy of Ukraine ensures the exit of ships from the ports of Great Odesa. In the past few months alone, fighters have destroyed more than 30 anchor mines drifting in the Black Sea.
