Ukraine presented the updated underwater drone Toloka TLK-150 (video)

he Ukrainian underwater drone has received design changes and is probably already undergoing sea trials.
During the presentation of achievements in the field of unmanned technologies by the Ministry of Strategic Industry, the developers presented an updated model of the Toloka TLK-150 underwater drone. This is reported by “Militarnyi”.
Since the first demonstration of Toloka in April 2023, the drone has undergone noticeable design changes. If the first two versions were presented only at presentations, then the TLK-150 has already been shown in the form of a full-size model. The updated drone looks like a sample ready for sea trials. There is a possibility that such tests are already underway.

The development of Toloka involves the creation of three versions:
• TLK-1000 – length from 4 to 12 meters, combat load up to 5000 kg, range – up to 2000 km;
• TLK-400 — size from 4 to 6 meters, warhead up to 500 kg, range – up to 1200 km;
• TLK-150 — compact underwater drone 2.5 meters long, combat load from 20 to 50 kg of explosives, range – up to 100 km.

Despite the fact that the Toloka TLK-150 is an underwater drone, it has surface elements, including antennas for GPS navigation, communications equipment, as well as television and thermal imaging cameras. The new photos do not show optics, which may indicate either its location under protective elements or a change in the concept of using the drone.

The drone’s propellers remained electric, but their design and power system have undergone changes. The vertical and aft horizontal rudders are now located near the engines, and not in the bow, as in the previous version of 2023.
This underwater drone could be an important addition to the already successful Ukrainian naval drones, which have become “game changers” in naval warfare. The updated Toloka TLK-150 has the potential to strengthen Ukraine’s capabilities in countering the Russian fleet and occupation forces.
As USM wrote, in November last year, a defense hackathon was held on the US aircraft carrier USS Hornet to support Ukraine. The hackathon participants worked on tasks formulated at the request of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, which ensured the practical value of the developments.
