Ukraine regained control of the Boyko Towers in the Black Sea
During a special operation, Ukraine returned the so-called “Boiko Towers” located near the coast of Crimea in the Black Sea under control.
The Petro Godovalets and Ukraina drilling platforms, as well as the SPBU Tavrida and SPBU Sivash, were brought back under the control of Ukraine, reports the Defense Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
The operation to establish control over the “Boiko Towers” was carried out by the units of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. During one of the phases of this operation, a battle took place between Ukrainian special forces on boats and a Russian Su-30 fighter jet. As a result of the battle, the Russian plane was damaged and had to retreat.
Also, during the operation, it was possible to capture a stock of helicopter ammunition of the NAR type (unguided air missiles), as well as the Neva radar, which can track the movement of ships in the Black Sea.
Reference. Boyko Towers are oil and gas drilling platforms off the coast of Crimea in the Black Sea. In 2015, they were occupied by Russia, and with the beginning of a full-scale invasion, they were used for military purposes. In particular, as helipads and for placing radar equipment.
