Ukraine supplied about 92% of sunflower oil imports to the EU

From July 2025 to the beginning of February 2026, EU countries imported almost 1.04 million tons of sunflower oil, of which 950 thousand tons fell to Ukraine.
Ukraine has retained the status of the largest supplier of sunflower oil to the European Union. This is reported by OFI Magazine analysts.
For the period from July 1, 2025 to February 1, 2026, EU countries imported slightly less than 1.04 million tons of sunflower oil. For comparison, for the same period of the previous season this figure was 1.28 million tons.
Of the total volume, Ukraine supplied 950 thousand tons of sunflower oil to the European Union. This corresponds to almost 92% of the market share.
At the same time, supplies from Ukraine decreased compared to last year, when 1.2 million tons of sunflower oil were exported to the EU during the same period. One of the key reasons is the reduction in the domestic raw material base.
Ukraine’s sunflower harvest decreased from 13 million tons in 2024 to 10.5 million tons in 2025. This led to a reduction in processing volumes and, accordingly, limited the country’s export potential in the sunflower oil market.
Additional pressure on exports was also created by Russian attacks on infrastructure and port facilities. At the same time, market data indicate that logistics flows have gradually stabilized.
Moldova and Serbia became the second and third largest suppliers of sunflower oil to the EU. Their market share was 5% and less than 2%, respectively.
