Ukraine used a new long-range missile based on the Neptune in combat

The President of Ukraine announced the combat use of a new Ukrainian missile, which significantly expands the capabilities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced the successful trials and combat use of a Ukrainian missile with a range of 1,000 km. He reported this on March 15 on social networks.

“Long Neptune” has been tested and successfully used in combat. A new Ukrainian missile, an accurate strike. The distance is a thousand kilometers. Thank you to our Ukrainian developers, manufacturers and military,” Zelensky said.

Before that, Ukraine had no weapons with such a radius of destruction. The ATACMS (USA) and Storm Shadow (British-French production) missiles transferred by the West have a range of only up to several hundred kilometers. In addition, the use of these missiles may be limited to the supplier countries that control the targets allowed for destruction.

The new Ukrainian development allows hitting targets at a much greater distance, which makes it possible to strike important objects behind enemy lines without restrictions from allies.

Earlier, American media reported that Ukraine had reduced the use of ATACMS due to limited supplies and uncertainty about the future US policy regarding strikes on Russian territory. This further strengthened the need to create its own long-range weapons.

The launch of the Long Neptune demonstrates that Ukraine continues to develop its own missile programs, strengthening its defense independence and expanding the capabilities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

As USM wrote, the day before, Turkey first launched the Atmaca cruise missile from a submarine, similar to the Ukrainian RK-360 Neptune.
