Ukraine wants to increase the throughput capacity of the Danube ports to 30 million tons
The State Agency for Reconstruction and Development of Infrastructure plans to increase the throughput capacity of Ukrainian ports on the Danube to 30 million tons per year.
During the full-scale war, the ports of Izmail, Reni and Ust-Dunaisk tripled their cargo flow. The cluster will remain an important transport corridor for cargo ships, as it provides direct water connections with EU countries.
The State Agency for Reconstruction and Development of Infrastructure plans to achieve the throughput capacity of the Danube cluster of 30 million tons per year and to ensure the possibility of entering the ports of ships with a larger cargo capacity, the agency reported .
The agency noted that the resumption of work and modernization of the entire network of Ukrainian ports is especially important after the blowing up of the Kakhovska Dam by Russian troops.
First of all, they plan to restore the Kherson port and shipping on the Dnipro, as well as demining the Dnieper and the Black Sea and reviving shipbuilding in the south of Ukraine.
We will remind, in May, the ports of the Danube region processed more than 3 million tons of cargo. This is an absolute record for the ports of this region.
