Ukraine will send 25,000 tons of grain to Nigeria as part of Grain from Ukraine
As part of the Grain from Ukraine humanitarian program, Ukraine will send 25,000 tons of grain to the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The grain shipment was discussed during the meeting of the Minister of Agricultural Policy of Ukraine, Mykola Solskyi, with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Nigeria, Geoffrey Onyeamam, and the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development of Nigeria, Mohammad Mahmud Abubakar, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy reported.
The Ukrainian minister said that, despite the war, Ukraine continues to provide food to the countries that need it the most. For this purpose, within the framework of the humanitarian initiative Grain from Ukraine, 25 thousand tons of grain will be delivered to Nigeria. They plan to send the food in the coming months.
We will remind you that the Grain from Ukraine program for food aid to African and Asian countries was launched on November 26 at the founding International Summit on Food Security.
The project envisages that Ukraine directs part of the harvested wheat to purchase for those countries where there are already problems of hunger. Part of the export grain can be purchased by the states participating in the project. The program aims to provide at least 5 million people with agricultural products by the end of spring 2023.
