Ukraine will start supplying grain to Mozambique as part of Grain from Ukraine

Ukraine will include Mozambique in the list of countries that receive Ukrainian grain as part of the Grain from Ukraine humanitarian program.

The fact that Ukraine is ready to include Mozambique in Grain from Ukraine was announced by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Dmytro Kuleba after a meeting with the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mozambique, Veronika Makamo.

“During my first ever visit to Mozambique, I met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Veronica Macamo. We agreed to take our bilateral relations to a new level. We will also include Mozambique in President Zelensky’s humanitarian program Grain from Ukraine,” Kuleba said on Twitter.

Also during the meeting, the minister raised the issue of ensuring food security in Africa, in particular the functioning of the Grain Initiative. In addition, Kuleba emphasized the inadmissibility of Russia’s use of food as a weapon. The Mozambican side expressed solidarity with Ukraine.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine will open an embassy in Mozambique in order to make bilateral relations mutually beneficial, the ministry said, noting that strengthening ties with African countries brings great political and economic opportunities for Ukraine.

USM previously reported that Foreign Minister Kuleba and the UN representative discussed the implementation of the Grain from Ukraine initiative. The parties discussed the possibilities of providing technical support to promote the export of food from Ukraine, as well as support for the development of humanitarian programs.
